JD Yachts Captain, Ben Harris, attended the 2012 Southampton Boat Show. Ben said “On the face of the show, there appeared to be a small reduction of exhibitors, but the excitement of the show was certainly there during the weekends with crowds enjoying the good weather. However, the normal mid-week numbers dropped compared to previous years, which was evident when the organisers started to scan the exhibitor’s cards to improve numbers! Over all, the enthusiasm is still there in the industry with a number of people window shopping and soaking up the atmosphere while viewing all the Yachts for sale and Boats For Sale.”

Ben would like to thank all those who came aboard the Rodman Motor Cruiser on the try a boat stand; he was fully booked with hourly trips to and from Hamble Point Marina. Ben said “There was a lovely mix of people coming on-board, from first timers to owners of sailing vessels converting to motor cruisers and clients from all walks of life. The show proved to me that since there are difficulties in the global economy, there are improving signs that boating enthusiasts are wanting time on the water.”

Back at the JD Yachts main office the spike in enquires during the show was very evident with viewings from clients that had been to the show. We were so busy that we didn’t have the time to go to the show ourselves!
